Known for his innovative teaching, he developed the Janux course, Chemistry of Beer, with over 17,000 registered to date and co-developed the study abroad program, Chemistry in Italy, with Organic Chemistry I and Chemistry and Culture of Wine in Italy. His strategies have been focused on enhancing his students’ learning experience by building a sense of community within large enrollment courses and leveraging emerging technologies to extend learning beyond the classroom. While at OU, he has been recognized with the College of Arts and Sciences’ Longmire Prize for Outstanding Teaching and with the Regents’ Award for Superior Teaching. Morvant earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry magna cum laude from Tarleton State University and his doctoral degree in organic chemistry from OU.
